Hires during COVID-19 Pandemic

*Updated 01/12/2020*

It is important to us that both party goers and those who operate party kits are kept as safe as possible and so we have decided to provide guidance on hiring party kits during this unusual time. This guidance is reviewed regularly and updated inline with current government advice.

Please note that lockdown rules do differ across the UK and islands so please see the relevant section below before proceeding with a hire. (Looking for the Australian guidelines? Visit our AUS website)

All party kits are operated independently and as such it is at the discretion of the party kit owner as to whether or not they will hire out their kit. We fully support those who have decide not to hire out their party kit during this global pandemic.

We have not updated our map to show who is currently hiring or not so please contact your local party kit for more information. We have provided access to relevant health and safety training for all party kit owners.

  • Small party kit hires can take place based on the maximum number permitted to gather in each country (with the exception of a national lockdown) - please see the relevant county rules below. We will not lend to illegal gatherings. .

  • Please use online payment where possible, such as PayPal or bank transfer.

  • Food and drinks should not be shared between households and please avoid sharing utensils, dishes and cups.

  • Please cancel your booking if you or anyone in your household has a positive test for COVID-19 or has experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 14 days (this includes a cough, high temperature or loss of taste or smell) or is required to isolate after confirmed contact with a positive case.

  • Please do not arrange to hire a kit if you are required to quarantine after travelling from aboard.

  • Please be aware that your booking may be cancelled if the party kit owner or a member of their household develop any symptoms of COVID-19, have a confirmed case or the local lockdown restrictions change.

Where we use the term 'household' below, this could mean a support bubble, linked or extended household or similar as allowed by the rules of that specific country.

England

Party kit hire is currently discouraged in England.

England has a 3 tier system. The rules vary based on the alert level where you live. Check which local COVID alert level applies to your area.

Party kit hire may legally continue but MUST be for a single household bubble only or for no more than 6 (where the tier rules allow). Every precaution should be taken in kit preparation and handover (as set out in our Hygiene and Safety Guidelines).

Tier 1: Medium Alert

Party kit hire in a Tier 1 area is restricted to kits for up to 6 people or a single household bubble.

  • Up to six people from different households can legally meet indoors or outside while maintaining social distancing. Children are included in the count.

  • There is an exception for larger households and support bubbles.

  • Up to 15 people may meet for a wedding, civil ceremony and reception in a COVID-secure venue or 30 for a funeral. This rule does NOT include birthday parties or other celebrations such as a christening.

Tier 2: High Alert

Party kit hire in a Tier 2 area is restricted to kits for a single household bubble only.

  • Socialising inside with people from another household or support bubble is NOT allowed.

  • Up to six people from different households can legally meet outside ONLY while maintaining social distancing. Children are included in the count.

  • Up to 15 people may meet for a wedding, civil ceremony and reception in a COVID-secure venue or 30 for a funeral. This rule does NOT include birthday parties or other celebrations such as a christening.

Tier 3: Very High Alert

Party kit hire is discouraged in a Tier 3 area; if a hire does go ahead it MUST be for a single household bubble only and every precaution should be taken in kit preparation and handover.

  • Socialising inside or outside with people from another household or support bubble is NOT allowed.

  • Exceptions are allowed for weddings and funerals. Up to 15 people may meet for a wedding or civil ceremony in a COVID-secure venue but NOT a wedding reception. Up to 30 can attend a funeral.

A household is a family or group of people living in the same house, or an extended household support bubble where a household has been joined by an adult who lives alone or with only under 18s.
